Curiosity in a Security State
What does the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. have on me in their files through the complicity of corporate intermediates? What gchats and blog posts have been flagged, if any? Did any particular eavesdropped phone calls catch their fancy perhaps? Do my web habits seem suspicious to some algorithm or bureaucratic functionary? What does the disembodied collective authority of this grand empire think of little old me? Would I be offended if my file said nothing, or if my file didn’t exist? If there is nothing, would I think my ideas and habits not interesting enough to merit notice? Would I have a problem with being considered entirely innocuous?
