I find this amusing, but it’s true I think because so many people are sheltered from information forcing them to deal with the gruesome nature of our imperialistic wars and the devastating effect humanity is having on the planet. Everyone is distracted from these real moral travesties and dangers intentionally, but when money is threatened people understand. That’s threatening someone’s life experience very directly. Money is one of the few great motivators in our society because it is a ubiquitous and pervasive aspect of nearly everyone’s life. Everyone understands immediately what having less money means in terms of comfort, security, and power, where as most government and corporate actions can remain abstract and at a safe analytical distance or flat out-ignored unless people face those actions daily.
