MAPP mismatches
All of the following are being recorded for my personal reference later, but all of the following are also preferences that put me directly at odds with my current career trajectory. When I feel like I’m useless here and/or performing poorly I need to remember this list.
S is not motivated toward processing activities, no matter what is being processed or who is doing the processing.
S is most likely not motivated to engage in activities requiring close, constant attention to precise standards, or exact measurements.
S literally may get ‘system claustrophobia’ if he/she has prolonged involvement in running, monitoring, or maintaining data systems.
S is not motivated to participate where simple, routine, basic tasks are primary.
Methodical, meticulous, routine activities do not motivate, are not acceptable, or tolerable for S.
S does not prefer activities requiring verbatim perception, recording, and/or processing of details.
S does not pay particularly close attention to non-motivational information, data, or detail.
S has clear preferences that do not include handling minute manipulation of detail for extended periods of time.
Math may be about the same as a foreign language for S. At least, it is foreign to S’s mental preferences.
S does not generally see, retain, and/or recall verbatim detail and, instead, shows an awareness of concepts, patterns, and holistic, “big picture” ideas.
