The report, by Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi, offers fresh ammunition to Democrats seeking block the Republican plan, which would terminate dozens of programs and slash federal appropriations by $61 billion over the next seven months.
Zandi, an architect of the 2009 stimulus package who has advised both political parties, predicts that the GOP package would reduce economic growth by 0.5 percentage points this year, and by 0.2 percentage points in 2012, resulting in 700,000 fewer jobs by the end of next year.
” —Ruh roh. It turns out that the Republican budget cutting plan is not-so-awesome.
But why isn’t this working?!? They’ve employed all of the fanciest budget cutting strategies making abortions more difficult to obtain (because babies create jobs) and trying to keep marriage between one man and one woman and trying to eliminate funding for public broadcasting. Also, they read the Constitution aloud. I don’t understand how more jobs weren’t created as a result of this savvy economic maneuvering!

I had another little five minute chat about RuPaul’s Drag Race with my friend from another office. We have these chats weekly to talk about who was looking good and who needs to sashay away. As our conversation was coming a close she dropped a personal and emotionally resonant bomb shell on me. She thanked me for talking about the show with her because it makes her think of the conversations she used to have with her best friend who was gay, but died years ago of AIDS related complications. She said she knew that if he were alive they would be on the phone talking about who’s a mess and who’s fabulous, but since he’s not here she’s glad she can talk about it with me.
I’m honestly touched.
She also used to call me Sweet Cheeks, but now that I’m losing weight she’s started to call me Sweet Cheek. “Soon you’ll just be Sweet half-a-cheek.”
