Myers-Briggs Typology test →
kiyoshimartinez: un: I have posted this before. According to this test, I am an ENFP: Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving “Like the other Idealists, Champions are rather rare, say two or three percent of the population” Great. Just great. I am a freak. Heh, I’m an INTJ, which is something like 1 percent of the population, if I recall correctly. I have consistently tested IN_J since...

So I’m doing more Enneagram reading this morning before lunch I read this and thought, “Uh oh, that sounds familiar.” A Four we know shared with us that he spent most of his spare time listening to classical music while fantasizing about being a great concert pianist—à la Vladimir Horowitz. Unfortunately, his commitment to practicing fell far short of his fantasized self-image,...

It's Enneagram time!
I’m type 4/5.  I always find this kind of testing interesting, even if it is scientifically dubious.  You can take a truncated version here. The Romantic (the Four) Romantics have sensitive feelings and are warm and perceptive. How to Get Along with Me Give me plenty of compliments. They mean a lot to me. Be a supportive friend or partner. Help me to learn to love and value myself. ...

The Awl: Staring into the future →
I feel as though Alex Balk was reading my mind in the excerpt below.  I also enjoy that more people are coming to the Gaga:Marilyn Manson realization. This generation, our generation—and you know who you are—is at the dead center of a profound transition in the way we process information. This is not by any means an original observation, but I’m not sure that enough attention has been paid...

Arriving in Chicago is cathartic.
forwhenifeellikesharing: If it’s raining or cold or you don’t want to come back or your travel plans took an hour or two longer than they should have, getting to this city is always a relief. It’s always welcoming. By air, an electric grid sprawls below you like a Mondrian painting and Chicago’s a patch of light and life on a black canvas. By car, the eclectic skyline greets you like a...

I always do this
I’m less than a month away from my birthday and this always brings about a lot of retrospective judging.  Honestly, I can’t think of anything major that happened in the last year.  In 2008 I was involved in the elections and felt like I had something going.  For almost all of 2009 I’ve been flying under the radar.  Another year spent completely single and sexless, completely...

excited to fry some potatoes
I was given something I’ve long wanted from my parents home, a cast iron skillet.  The skillet belonged to my grandmother on my dad’s side and is over 70 years old.  Let’s just say that it is very well seasoned and I can’t wait to start cooking.

I don't want to miss it
I actually ended up being sad when I drove away from my parents’s home earlier today.  I don’t miss their town or my complete lack of privacy, but I do miss the company.  My apartment just feels lonely right now.

Appreciating the time I have
I don’t know what it is about this Thanksgiving weekend, but I’m just enjoying being in the moment as odd as that sounds.  I’m enjoying the time I have with my family as they’re the only people for whom I really do not have to put on any kind of act anymore.  I sometimes forget what a synthesis of my parents I am, and hanging out with my parents is like a mirror. ...

The Shift →
I discovered this show this weekend, and I could easily become addicted. It follows the homicide division of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police.  It’s interesting as a show, but my favorite part is playing guess where that is.  It’s just bizarre to see Indy presented as so urban, gritty, and sometimes beautiful in a television show.

WWII in HD
I’ve now watched all 10 hours, and I wish there were more.  I want the History Channel to have more productions like this and less about pawn shops, ancient porn, and alien abductions.

Despite the exceptionally rough beginning this has been a good Thanksgiving.  The  Sacred Spain exhibit is a highlight of the weekend, and definitely makes me feel like I’m missing a calling. At one point a group goes through the room with a docent describing the work and my mother and I stop to listen.  After group moves on I start to fill in my mother on the historical context and make...

Happy Thanksgiving
I’m thankful yesterday is over more than anything for the following reasons: *Multiple calls from work, making me work on my day off. *A speeding ticket it northern Indiana, making two speeding tickets in less than a week.  I was picked off in a group of cars going the same speed.  The cop was sitting behind a bend in the road, or really standing outside his car with the radar gun.  He...
